Shirley Berard

Author Shirley Berard was born and raised in Everett, Massachusetts, and now resides in Rhode Island. She discovered her love of writing at the age of six, when she began journaling in a pink diary with a lock—a simple beginning that eventually grew into a passion for writing novels and poetry.

What once felt like a distant dream—publishing a book of poems—has since evolved into a growing body of work that includes both poetry and fiction. Shirley is the author of her debut novel, Black Sheep, with two additional titles, Voodoo Girl and Vortex to My Soul, scheduled for release in 2026.

Before pursuing writing full-time, Shirley worked as a medical assistant for twenty years. She has since chosen to follow a path that speaks more deeply to her creative spirit.
